EDUCATION PHILOSOPHIES

For this post, I will write about Educational Philosophy.

There are 3 philosophy:

1. National Education Philosophy

2. Science Education Philosophy

3. Teaching Philosophy

Philosophy of education will give an explanation about many things about education such as the purpose of schooling, a teacher's role, what should be taught to students and what method can be used for teaching.

National Education Philosophy

"Education in Malaysia is an on-going effort towards further developing the potential of individuals in a holistic and integrated manner so as to produce individuals who are intellectually, spiritually, emotionally and physically balanced and harmonic, based on a firm belief in and devotion to God"

“Such an effort is designed to produce Malaysian citizens who are knowledgeable and competent, who possess high moral standards and who are responsible and capable of achieving high level of personal well-being as well as being able to contribute to the harmony and betterment of the family, society and nation at large”.

National Education Philosophy that was state by Ministry of Education in 1988.

To simply it, there are some main ideas in this philosophy:

• Continuous in learning process

• To develop individual potential

• To achieve an holistic development (intellectual, spiritual, emotional, physical)

• Human well balance and harmonious

• Believe and devotion in God

• Malaysian with knowledgeable

• Malaysian with great character 

• Malaysian with responsible

• Malaysian contribute to harmony and betterment to family, society and nation

Science Educational Philosophy


'' In consonance with the National Education Philosophy, science education in Malaysia nurtures a science and technology culture by focusing on the development of individuals who are competitive, dynamic, robust and resilient and able to master scientific knowledge and technological competency "

Teaching Philosophy

          For me, science subjects like Biology, Chemistry and Physics are not easy subject to score among the students. If you ask many students who in science stream class, three subject above will drive them into crazy. Although they are killer subject, many students still be able to score it. As a Biology teacher, I personally have my own Philosophy on Teaching Science to help my teaching more efficient.

          One of most important things as a science teacher is to relate Science back to everyday life as much as possible. For example when we teach about respiration that involve exhale and inhale, we can apply it directly to ourselves as it can make easier for our students to remember directly what they have learnt. As we know, there is a lab conduct that can help students more understand the theory that they have learnt but relate directly to their selves is easier for them.

          The second thing that I believe as a teacher is to show students the Science. This means allow the students to see demonstration about the topics. For example, dissect the frog. Through this activity, it will make them more invested and interested in Science as they see Science is fun subject to learn. So, in the future I plan to have more hands-on activities in my classroom so that my students will not feel bored.

         My last believe is to use more technology in my classroom. As we know in the future, technology will be more powerful instrument in education. As a teacher, I see this opportunity as a way to attract students by use video, simulation and data logger. This method make students to learn more and their understanding will be more excellent. Together with the development of individual in emotional, physical, intellectual and spiritual can be achieve mostly in their intellectual.

I wish I can fulfil my aim through my philosophy.
